Ludhiana-based Fastway Media Cable Network
has received a provisional pan-India multi-system operator

(MSO) licence from the Ministry of Information &
Broadcasting (MIB).

The MSO is part of Punjab’s dominant MSO Fastway
Transmissions, which incidentally also holds provisional
MSO licence for digital addressable system (DAS) Phases
II, III and IV.

Fastway, a joint venture between Gurdeep Singh and
Digicable Network India, provides digital cable TV services
in North India. The services of Fastway Transmissions are
available in the majority of areas in Punjab, Himachal
Pradesh, Haryana and Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, the ministry has awarded 40 new provisional
licences to MSOs in June, including Fastway Media Cable
Network. This takes the total number of provisional
registrations to 711 as on 28 June.

The number of permanent MSO licences stands at 229.
Together, the number of MSO licences stands at 940.
Apart from Fastway, another New Delhi-based Megbela
Infitel Cable & Broadband has also received pan-India
registration.
