From a technical perspective, if you're using 1080i, the 'i'  stands for interlaced. So every frame is blended or "interlaced"  with the next frame. So when you pause, it shows 2 blended frames. But during normal playback, your tv and stb separate the interlaced frames to ensure smooth video.

The quality of picture is not that bad on TS. Some feeds are pixelated but some are crystal clear. This happens on d2h also.

Its the motion judder that looks very bad on TS.
 
Bro I also have Micromax 43" TV and yes the quality is somewhat compressed on HD channels especially Sports Channels and one more Travel Xp HD
