The year’s most awaited love story Premam, starring Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Haasan, cleared the final hurdle before its October release 7 after the Censor Board gave a U/A certificate to the film with no cuts.

The movie is set for a grand opening on the Dussehra weekend while clashing with three other releases — Abhinetri, Mana Oori Ramayanama and Edu Gold Ehe.

Premam is the official Telugu remake of Malayalam romantic blockbuster in the same name. The lead roles of Nivin Pauly and Sai Madhuri from the Malayalam version will now be reprised by Chaitanya and Shruti in this Telugu film. The other two leads — Annapurna Parameswaran and Madonna Sebastian, have however been retained.

The trailer of the movie already got a warm reception from the fans with its YouTube video already registering more than 2 million views.

Made under the direction of Chandoo Mondenti, Naga Chaitanya’s Premam is produced by Suryadevara Nagavamsi from Sithara Entertainments. Gopi Sunder has composed the music for the film. The movie is going to be the biggest worldwide release in Chaitanya’s career. The actor’s father Nagarjuna has already compared this movie with his classic hit Geetanjali.

Premam is apparently not a true remake of the Malayalam hit as the script and dialogues have been altered to appeal the Telugu audience.

“Our idea to remake the Malayalam Premam was not to make a better film than the original film or correct the mistakes they made or perform better than that hero. The soul of the Malayalam movie was taken and changed a bit to match with the Telugu sensibilities so that our audience can enjoy the movie. That was our only intention,” Chaitanya had said.
