Walt Disney Company has posted weaker than expected earnings per share and revenue for the third quarter, as per media reports.
Star India’s merger with Disney is said to have affected the company’s revenue. The quarter’s earnings per share have fallen 28 per cent to $1.35 from $1.87 in the same period previous year.

MUMBAI: The giant media conglomerate Walt Disney Company could not reach Wall Street’s expectations for the quarter ended 29 June 2019. The company posted weaker than expected earnings per share and revenue in its Q3 results. Star India which now comes under Disney after the merger with 21st Century Fox affected the company’s revenue.

Earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter decreased 28 per cent to $1.35 from $1.87 in the prior-year quarter while the expectation was $1.74 by the analysts. Total revenue stood at $20.2 billion against the consensus estimate for $21.4 billion

This means all the noise made by Star India about IPL and WC 2019 ad revenue was just a marketing gimmick. With economy slowdown, Star India will find it very hard to be profitable atleast in sports broadcasting. Sports broadcasting in any case is very expensive business in India.

I guess the losses are only because of world cup washout matches and about ipl star india knows in 1st 2 year they are not gonna make profit from ipl but remaining 3 yrs will be more profitable than ever as with every passing year they making higher revenues from ipl nd they will recover losses from next 3 yrs

Yes true it was only to create hype to get sponsers...but in world cup, ipl they didn't even fill up ads space most of times they promote own orignal shows , movies vip package etc ...sponsers were also not interested due to high ads rate...still i am happy because star india buy rights of ipl with unexpected high price to create Monopoly even they know that they cant recover that high amount..In india no channels care to make good shows to buy righys of good movies...they are filling pockets of rich bcci and cricket players who are already billionaires...even ipl will continue run in profit if they buy rights with half amount what they pay

Without any doubt, Enterr10. For thise who don't know, the Enterr10 network consists of Enterr10, Dangal, Fakt Marathi and Bhojpuri Cinema. Every single one of those channels has shot up the rating charts. In fact Dangal is the No. 2 channel nationally after Sun TV (for some time it was the No. 1 before the World Cup came and SS1 Hindi became the No. 1). Also, Fakt Marathi has turned into a GEC from a movie channel, and it has become the No. 2 Marathi channel after Zee Marathi.
