Really doubt the success of this channel.
Almost all regional sports channels re-run IPL matches of the regional team,. SS Malayalam don't have that option. In addition, many prefer HD over SD.
ISL will continue the following, due to quality/ fan base of commentator. EPL Malayalam commentary could attract viewers.
Malayalam commentary of WC19 matches are atrocious, serial actors who played in CCL are the expert commentators.

In telugu they have starsports1 telugu channel stll they using star maa movies channel

Ipl final in asianet plus got record viewership

Asianet Plus is subscribed by most people in Kerala, in base packs. People not subscribed to SS channels benefited.
IPL final is a very special match, also it is a live event.

Gujarati is a definite work in progress as per my source. Regional SS1 channels won't have HD counterparts as of now; None being planned or thought about till date. And, please take this with a grain of salt; there are possibilities of SS1 Hindi HD getting discontinued too.

No chance of Star Sports 1 Hindi HD getting discontinued, this is top performing sports channel. Infact Hindi Feed is giving them maximum revenue and eyeballs. HD subscribers r limited for all genres specially niche channels but ad inventory is sold at premium rates.

Star India is not even condidering shutting down Star World Premiere HDMI, Star Gold Select HD or Fox Life HD at present which hardly has viewership and almost little or no ads. They will always have a strong bouquet in each genre and SS 1 Hindi HD is pillar of their HD Sports bouquet

SWP HD has not rebranded ever since it launched in 2013. Similarly Life OK did not change its graphics even once until it became Star Bharat. This may be a sign that it may be shut down or renamed to something else. Remember, FX and FX HD shut down in 2017. It seems only Viacom is capable of handling two English GECs (unless you consider Disney International HD to be a part of Star).

As for SGS HD, the very purpose is to have only one (or no) ad break per film. Obviously this channel is a non-starter for advertisers.

That said, I sincerely hope SS1 Gujarati never sees the light of day. It has no USP whatsoever.

This calls for long discussion but changing graphics or not doesn't indicate anything related to shutdown. For example take case of Star Gold, it is running successfully without change in graphics since 2010. SWP HD seems to be present just to have decent English Channels bouquet and Disney will take a call soon on this along with host of other things. Fox Crime was non starter while FX had potential but not run efficiently. Biggest mistake by Star India was removing all latest content from main channels and shifting to Star World Premiere, both things flopped. Now international shows which require censorship specially forming important part of story ploys do not work on tv. General Drama or Comedy is a safezone and clicks well which is where Viacom18 has put resources into thus yielding success

Star Gold Select was never meant to be break free or 1 interval channel, it was just a catchy launch strategy like it happened with Star Movies Select. In initial days channels do not get ads and it takes longer for niche channels, they did not get success in getting enough TRP later too hence remained ad free till now.

Regarding regional sports channels, i have no issue if they show all kind of sports on their channels. It won't have any significant impact on subscription cost as each region has different bouquet and few channels do not make drastic difference in price
