Sun TV was among the first broadcaster to move Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) to recover its dues after the DTH operator had issued a public notice stating that it will shut down operations on 18 November due to the expiry of licence. According to a source, the broadcaster took the extreme step as it felt that no resolution was coming out in the TDSAT. The NCLT will hear the arguments from 16 January. Reliance Big TV, which provides DTH service under Reliance Digital TV brand, owes more than Rs 100 crore to leading broadcasters like Star India, ZEEL, Sony Pictures Networks India, TV18, Viacom18, Sun TV, and Discovery Communications India. Sun TV Networks has claimed dues of Rs 30 crore. Star India’s dues are said to be in the range of Rs 22 crore. IndiaCast Media’s dues are approximately Rs 14.62 crore. Discovery has claimed dues of Rs 7.5 crore.
