AMSTERDAM, Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Antenna Technology Communications Inc., a provider of satellite communications systems, today announced from the IBC Conference in Amsterdam that Tata Sky has selected the ATCi Simulsat 5b Multibeam antenna solution and related satellite equipment to outfit its headquarters in Chennai, India.

Incorporated in 2004, Tata Sky is a JV between the TATA Group and STAR.  Tata Sky DTH offers Indian viewers a world class television viewing experience through its satellite television service.

Tata Sky chose the Simulsat broadcast system because of the antenna's ability to receive programming from up to 35 satellites simultaneously without degradation of quality across each signal. With a 70-degree longitude satellite view arc, Simulsat can receive a variety of "C" and Ku-band satellite programming data. Essentially, one Simulsat does the work of 35 steerable parabolic antennas and only requires the space of one and a half antennas.

"We are pleased with the prompt installation of the Simulsat System at our facility in Chennai," said Joby Sebastian, Tata Sky.  "This solution has saved us a considerable amount of space and installation man-hours - if we were to opt for the conventional one antenna per satellite system, and we are hopeful of utilizing it to its potential in the coming years as we expand our carriage base," Sebastian continued.  "We also appreciated the ATCi Team's professionalism in maintaining the agreed time-line besides responding to our queries before and during the installation," Sebastian concluded.

"ATCi is very proud to be able to support a technology leader such as Tata Sky in their state-of-the-art broadcast facility with our Simulsat Multibeam solution," remarked Gary Hatch.  "This is the first Simulsat to be installed in India and we are hoping this will open the market for many more installations in this important region," Hatch concluded.

What is use

in simple word, its solution of uplink station. Dth need to downlink channels from different channels host satellite so for every satellite dth need separate antenna[mostly C band]. Its costly hence this is solution to get signal upto 35 satellites from onlY 1 antenna.. Means many channels are in line to add in ts.

Suniel bro thats means tatasky will be used many satellite on diffrent direction is it true

Upshot is they plan to downlink channels from many more satellites and provide customers with many new channels (unless of course, the exercise is to replace existing old equipment).

Its for ts uplink station,at uplink they uses many dishes for receiving many sats like ie c band 105.5 as,68 is,100e etc, so with this antenna they dont need to install difffernt dish for different sats,on dish will work, dish covering area will be 70 degree arc means 105e to 35e.

Downlink will be 83e,no change in this.

yes, but not at user end. Its use in their headquarter i.e. In uplink station to receive channels. [dth receive channels from host satellite and gather them, then transmit to own satellite]

I think They done all work before gsat 10 launch. Thats why we seen many maintenance activity with ts
