The Bombay High Court today delivered a verdict in favour of UTV in the ongoing title case for Thank You against Pooja Bhatt and her husband Munish Makhija-owned Fisheye Networks Ltd.

The Court observed that there was no copyright in a mere title and that no case has been made out that Fisheye has acquired any goodwill or reputation in the use of the title.

Claiming that she had registered the title with Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programming Producers (AMPTPP), Pooja Bhatt had filed
a case against UTV while the production house had registered the title with Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPAA) in 2008.

When a dispute arose, it was firmly settled by the Film Maker's Combine (FMC), confirming that the title was with UTV. All required registration documents and correspondence with FMC and IMPPA supplement UTV's ownership in the title.

Producers of the film strongly feel that this entire issue cropped up solely due to miscommunication between the film associations.

Thank You, releasing on 8 April, is a romantic comedy, directed by Anees Bazmee and stars Akshay Kumar, Irrfan Khan, Suniel Shetty, Sonam Kapoor, Celina Jaitley and Rimi Sen.
