Yayy! CBS is launching channels in India.:cheers::cheers: But what are they expecting to air? Aren't most of their shows licensed to Sony and Star? Your assumptions are 💩.

Bro comedy central is silently renewing most of CBS shows.
And also that is why Viacom 18 is not ready to launch English movie channel because CBS may enter.

Also in which year CNN and news 18 license gets over

It was before AT&T acquisition r8? Or will they continue. CBS and Viacom merge may change everything.
Yes. Nothing will change in India. CBS was very bitter when they had to leave India. And viacom always plays safe. They are not into sports business coz they can't have cricket rights. They don't want to go premium for streaming. Cuz, they think market is not prepared.

With Discovery likely to join this merger soon, Viacom18 will have a kind of sister sports channel in form of DSport in India. Already Discovery is sharing feed with Viacom18 for some sporting events & vice versa might happen soon.

Chances of New Entertainment Channel getting launched is close to 0 but a new movie channel from Viacom - CBS combine could soon be on the cards. Viacom had earlier stated that it will consider doing so in near future and with CBS onboard this will gain further priority. Let's wait and see. All these things might take 6 to 12 months to be rolled out in a gradual manner

They were experimenting with movies on VH1 4 years back at Sunday 12 pm. Didn't go well.

Situations have drastically evolved in last 4 years and companies keep expanding or entering new genres based on relevance. With CBS as partners they would surely look to get some hold on English Movie Genre or CBS will coerce them into doing so. This will make their English Bouquet too more appealing or attractive for subscribers. With no shortage of funds they can acquire good movies and pull subscribers with fresh or innovative presentation.

Look how despite being last entrants they have become top players in English GEC segment.

English genre has been most prominent now in India. Especially Viacom 18 has good hold on English genre. They almost have 28-30% market share in English genre. Even in absence of movie channel. They get max share from comedy central and Nickelodeon.
If English movie channel launches it will grow to 39-41% and from next year if Viacom 18 involves TV18 English channel their share will increase to 43-44%.
This data may vary after Disney fox merge.
Even though Viacom will then have at least 25%+ share in market
