Discovery Communications SVP and GM South Asia Karan Bajaj has drawn up big plans for scaling up the business in India. After taking over as the India head, the first significant move made by Bajaj was entering the sports genre with DSport. The Discovery India head honcho is also scaling up the creation of local content on Discovery and TLC.

However, Bajaj’s most ambitious project is launching the Hindi GEC Discovery Jeet in early 2018. The launch will mark Discovery’s entry in the GEC segment. So far, the company remained a niche player with a presence in genres like infotainment and lifestyle. Besides GEC, the company is also betting big on the kids genre. Discovery Kids will be ramped up with a lot more localised content.
