Two much-hyped films releasing on the same date isn’t new in the Hindi Film Fraternity. There have been many times when big shot stars and their films (big or small) have clashed at the box-office, with one sweeping all the glory leaving nothing for the other.

This time around the films that are releasing on the same date (on Diwali, 13th of November) are Yash Chopra directed, and Shah Rukh Khan-Katrina Kaif-Anusha Sharma starrer “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” and Ajay Devgn-Sonakshi Sinha starrer “Son of Sardar”.

Though this competition can be termed as healthy, and each film can be expected to have their kind of audiences, this time around things have got a little ugly.

The makers of “Son of Sardar” have filed a case against Yash Raj Films, over suspecting them to have been trying to stop the release of their film.

The Competition Appellate Tribunal aka CAT this Thursday, declined granting any sort of interim relief to Son of Sardar. However, they have issued notice to inquire into the so-called ‘anti-competitive activities’ of the production house- Yash Raj Films.

A statement has been issued to the press by ADF which is Ajay Devgan Films. It says, “Considering YRF’s statement that only 821 theatres have executed an agreement with it for screening ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ on Diwali, compared to 1,407 single-screen cinemas for ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, the Competiiton Appellate Tribunal didn’t provide interim relief.”

Ajay Devgan Films have said that they will approach the other 586 single-screen cinema theatres that had screened ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, this year on Eid. These single-screen cinema theatres do not have any sort of a tie-up with Yash Raj Films for the film “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” and can easily screen the movie ‘Son of Sardar’.

The statement issued by Ajay Devgn Films also adds “If the facts given out by YRF are found to be false, which would be proven through evidence after the release of the movie, we will not only continue to fight against YRF’s anti-competitive activities on our own but also on the behalf of the entire industry.”

However, Yash Raj Films have completely countered the allegations that have been made public by ADF’s press release. They have stated that Competition Appellate Tribunal have not found any sort of credibility in the controversy aroused by ADF, on the suspected pact passed into by Yash Raj Films with all the single-screen cinemas.
