MUMBAI: Subhash Chandra-pro noted media conglomerate Zee Entertainment Enterprises
BSE 2.24 % is in advanced stages of discussion t buy 9X Media broadcast network that owns a clutch of Hindi regional music channels.

Zee is interested in acquiring 9X Media currently owned by private equit fund New Silk Route, "at a right value" as it makes a lot of strategi sense for the company, people close to the development told ET.

"For Zee, acquisition of 9X Media makes a lot of strategic sense.They have a motion pictures business, a full-fledged broadcast network, a music company and now FM radio, under its belt," one of the sources said on condition of anonymity.

"Zee has always been a prudent buyer and 9X Media has been on the block for a long time.Zee will acquire it if the value is right," the person said.

If you are saying about 9x
Zee was not much successful in 2008
In initial days they tried to put some original content but failed. They also launched zee tamil at that time. They also closed zee next just before 2 year of acquiring 9x. Also most of the channels of zee were not so successful at that time

About big magic
It's FTA channel
Even with original content they are having less trps than pay channels in rural market. So zee started running old shows to get popularity. Already they are investing huge on &TV but getting failed. & zee just wanted reliance's radio business they were not much interested in tv business at start.

& if they acquire this music channels
The current people working in 9x will remain same, so content will remain same & music channels doesn't require much investment as compared to GEC. now they have own music company, radio business it'll good if they acquire it,so they can focus on zing as youth channel & zee etc as fully Bollywood info channel.
