Vodafone Idea to Increase Tariff from December

Vodafone Idea has today announced tariff increase from 1st December 2019, the operator in its statement said that mobile data charges in India are by far the cheapest in the world even as the demand for mobile data services continues to grow rapidly.

This announcement came after the operator reported a net loss of Rs 50,921 crore for the second quarter ended September 2019, which is the highest ever quarterly loss posted by any Indian company. Last month the Supreme Court of India also ruled against the operator on adjusted gross revenue (AGR) matter.

Amid rumours of the shutdown, the company today in its statement assured that the acute financial stress in the telecom sector has been acknowledged by all stakeholders and a high-level Committee of Secretaries (CoS) headed by the Cabinet Secretary is looking into providing appropriate relief.

The operator also confirmed that it will continue to actively invest in making its network future-fit by embedding new-age technologies and launching new products/services. Today, Vodafone Idea closed 24.66% higher at ₹4.55 a stock on the NSE.

New/revised plan details are awaited.

Abhinav Bro, in our forum a tread is there these companies to be closed in 3 months! If they hike the tariff, how they get new customers… How they compatative with other networks..

Vodafone Idea officially released a statement and said that these news are nothing more than rumours.

Jio first put IUC charges and increased prices indirectly now after TRAI open house discussion it’s almost confirmed that IUC will be removed, and also they have to pay huge AGR, hiking tariffs was the only option. We don’t know how much price will be increased but if they provide better data speeds and call quality they may survive.
