Bharti Airtel-owned direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Airtel Digital TV (ADTV) has widened its channel lineup with the addition of Disney Star’s Hollywood movie channel Star Movies Select SD on 15th May 2024, followed by the addition of Shemaroo Entertainment’s free to air channel Chumbak TV on the consecutive day.
After the addition of five channels last month, ADTV has further expanded its channel count with the latest addition of Star Movies Select on LCN 257 and Chumbak TV on LCN 220. ADTV users can avail Star Movies Select SD by paying Rs. 7 per month.
Disney Star launched Star Movies Select HD on 9th July 2015 as a niche premium channel that caters to Hollywood movies. While the other DTH platforms had added Star Movies Select HD on the day of its launch, ADTV added Star Movies Select HD on 24th July 2015.
Though the HD variant was launched initially, the SD variant, Star Movies Select SD was launched much later in the year 2023 on March 15th. Sun Direct became the first DTH to onboard the channel followed by other DTH platforms last year. After much delay, ADTV finally managed to add the channel on 15th May 2024 on LCN 257.
Further, Chumbak TV was launched by Shemaroo Entertainment as a free-to-air channel on 6th May 2023 replacing Azaad TV. The channel broadcasts youth as well as animated shows. With Tata Play adding the channel in February this year, ADTV has added Star Movies Select SD on 16th May 2024 on LCN 220.
With the addition of two channels, hereafter, ADTV holds 545 SD channels and 94 HD channels totaling to 718 channels including other service channels.
