37 MSOs got licences between May 1 and June 13(11 got cancelled)

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has given licences to 37 multi-system-operators (MSOs) in 43 days between May 1 and June 13, 2017, taking the total number to 1,421. Earlier, the ministry had given licences to 57 MSOs in April.
In addition to this, applications for 11 MSOs were closed due to lack of documents.

Among the MSOs who got licences, six are from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh each, five are from Telangana while four are from Odisha. The remaining MSOs were from West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan.

Considering the 11 recently closed applications, a total of 52 MSO applications have either been cancelled or closed. The MSOs whose applications were closed include Master Cable and Network (Application dated December 12, 2014); T Communications (Application dated December 18, 2014); North India Data Analysts (Application dated December 22, 2014); Cloudcast Services Private (Application dated March 27, 2013); Benaulim Cable Net (Application dated June 24, 2015); Dholpur Cable Network (Application dated July 14, 2016); Dholpur Cable Network (Application dated December 23, 2014); Nellore Digital TV Network LLP (Application dated November 02, 2015); Apna Digital Network (Application dated December 19, 2014); Ganesh Digital Communication Network (Application dated December 18, 2014); Nexus Cable & Data (Application dated February 2, 2015) and Srikanth Cable (Application dated December 18, 2014).
