MUMBAI: 9X Media’s international music channel 9XO now dons a fresh new look and offers viewers a social music experience. The new 9XO is airing international music with Twitter and Instagram updates of artists and offering viewers a social music experience.
The channel is also launching a new site, Document Moved, to complement the on-air look. Speaking of the channel reboot, 9XO programming head Clyde D’Souza said that the process took around a month: “We launched two years back with the aim of giving back-to-back international music. Now we decided to introduce the social media element on the channel through a new look.
This is unique in the music channel space. When a music video is played, a pop-up of that artist appears and one can see their Instgram and Twitter feeds. “It allows viewers who are interested in artists and social media to get a deeper, more meaningful engagement. Given that music today is available on tap, music programming is about handpicked curation.
We, at 9XO, want to be your cool friend who introduces you to the latest dance hit, ballad or quirky music video. The social feed on air will help viewers get closer to artists. The website will help viewers discover and share awesome music on their Facebook and Twitter timelines.” 9XO channel head Luke Kenny said, “With our core target being socially active, we decided to give them the experience that combines social media platforms and great music discovery all rolled in one.
This new look allows viewers to get closer to their favourite artists with their Tweets and Instagram pics along with their songs. This is our social music experience offering to our viewers.” Along with the new look, the channel has also launched Document Moved, a music sharing channel site dedicated to helping viewers discover great music.
The site will enable users to discover and share songs, covers, parodies and much more. D’Souza added that the site allows people to discover curated music and share it. “We work hard to find popular music, curate it and then give it on a platter. That is the difference between us and YouTube. Our site is auto-responsive.
So whether you are accessing it from a tablet, iPad, PC or mobile, you will enjoy a seamless experience. You can share the music with your friends. Our aim is for people to enjoy great music anywhere, anytime. Our content offerings are wider online than they are offline.
That is because online we do things like parodies of songs. Some parodies are done by professionals while others are doing by fans. We have already showcased parodies of artists like Beyonce and Britney Spears. Our on-air shows can also be viewed online. We are continuing with our properties like Fresh Vids. Going forward, we would look at new content initiatives.”
