Salman Khan signs 500 crore deal with TV channel

Salman Khan has signed the biggest-ever deal for a Bollywood star by inking a settlement worth Rs.450-500 crore with Star India Network.

The deal signed earlier this week is valid for five years. It gives the channel exclusive satellite rights to broadcast all films featuring Salman Khan that are released from January 2013 to December 2017.

"This is first of its kind contract signed by any actor in Indian showbiz. All the films starring Salman Khan will be premiered exclusively on Star channel," Hemal Jhaveri, executive vice-president and general manager, Star Gold and Movies OK said.

"This is a mammoth and a complex deal, which has been chalked out considering Salman's box office success over the past few years," added Jhaveri, who confirmed that the films will be broadcast on all entertainment channels of the group such as Star Plus, Star Gold, Life OK and Movies OK.

Good question...however an actor can sign agreement with producer(s) to take the distribution of movies in his/ her own hands...this can be done while signing for the movie or at a later stage...and considering Salman's present craze & fan following, he can definitely do the same!

Yes, at present salman khan can do but there is problem as some production house also set deals with channels for an ex. Yash raj films have contract with MSM [sony tv]. But definatily there is solution, any be both channels can do adjustment.
