Severe cyclonic storm Hudhud, currently gathering over the Bay of Bengal to the east of India, is set to develop into a very severe
cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours as it moves northwestwards, according a statement from the India Meteorological Department on Friday morning.
The storm is set to make landfall at
Visakhapatnam on the Andhra Pradesh coast on Sunday morning before midday, the IMD said,
with wind speeds of between 130-140 kilometers an hour gusting to 155 km an hour.
Damage is expected to huts, communication and power lines with a possibility of flying debris.
The IMD recommended that fishing
activities be suspended in the region where the cyclone is expected.
