It is known that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister had started ‘Amma Unavagam’ all over the state to provide quality food at affordable rates for the poor and needy. Also, ‘Amma Kudineer’, packaged drinking water, was launched later. The latest buzz is that ‘Amma Theatres’ might soon be launched all over the state. These theatres will be a great boon for small budget films, that do not get proper screens and distributors.

Also, the ticket prices are expected to be lesser than the current trend, so that everyone can afford to watch the films. An official announcement is expected to be made soon!

That means most of the A rated movies will find a place in Amma Theatre...as only these type movies don't make it to the bigger screens...

I think its a good move, while government gets an excellent additional revenue the huge score of around 300 movies waiting to make the theaters every year (with around 500 being produced and around 150 - 200 being released).

Definitely "A" rated and other harmful and useless movies wont be screened in these theaters as this would be a Government theater and strict rules would apply and every decent movie will get a chance to screen.

BTW why are some against the option for a low cost ticketing in movie theaters? Wont this make the other theaters offering discounts in ticket prices due to a good competition from the government side?

While the high budget movies make the screen even the lost cost movies deserve an equal chance.

I think she should concentrate on "Amma Home" & "Amma school","Amma hospitals" rathers than Amma theatre.:D

We already have Slum Clearance and TNHB built houses, government schools, colleges and hospitals already in pace for several years. We can ask them to improve the service and quality but cant deny that they exist.

All states have these facilities. But these should be more in numbers with quality.
