Norway-based provider of head-ends for broadcast and IPTV Appear TV will launch a cable head-end to enable digital switchover in India. The head-end is to be launched at CommunicAsia in Singapore 18-21 June. The cable head-end will be marketed to India's cable operators directly and through the Appear TV network of India-based business partners, with post-sales support provided by its in-country service centre in Delhi. The cable head-end features including pre-defined technical design, incorporating DVBS/S2 demodulators, CAM based descrambling, transcoding, encoding with SDI or CVBS inputs when STB's are used for channel acquisition, DVB Simulcrypt scrambling and QAM outputs in the Appear TV 4RU XC5000 chassis. The Appear TV head-end can be upgraded to provide additional functionality post digital switchover, including audio levelling, EPG, multiscreen and hybrid multicast.
