Are we really living in 2025??

Strange how we are still discussing the availability of SD & HD channels ,pictures & sound quality of SD/HD channels across DTH.

By this time we should be discussing about HD vs 4k channels but No since the launch of DTH services till now we don't have any option.

I think broadcasters & operators are not interested in any new innovations & technology.
Broadcasters are big whales atleast they should invest in technology & quality rather than Quantity.
Star Sports 1, 2,3, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil..... What the hell is this 🤦🏻.

It's time to discontinue SD channels , all SD channels should be converted to HD version & all existing HD channels should be upgraded to 4k.

And there shouldn't be branches of channels just launch few channels category wise & that's enough.
eg.
Star Sports 1 HD/4k (Hindi English Feed)
Star Sports 2 HD/4k (Regional languages Feed)
Star Sports 3 HD ( Repeated Telecast with option of all languages)
Star Sports Domestic HD (All others sports).

I do hope for the same to happen. Right now, 4k TVs are dominant in the market and in most of the households. Still we lack 4k channels. May be this could attribute to higher bandwidth cost for transmission which in turn may force broadcasters to increase the NCF and Channel Price from what's right now to 2-3 fold price increase, which again burdens the customers and may become another reason for ditching DTH. It might take another 10-15 years for what you told to come into existence.

*You will get answers for your discussion mostly like the following such as rise of ott, high operational costs, changing media dynamics, cord cutting, declined viewership, etc.
*One thing is sure that atleast they should have started to scrap SD boxes and packs and replaced with the hd one years ago. It won't cause any problem in viewing experience for the older tv as well.
*Paying the same price for the SD and HD version for most of the channels in A la carte basis is the biggest joke.

Broadcasters will readily launch 4K versions of their respective channels but are Indian audience ready to pay rs100 or so for each channel???? The answer is BIG NO.... here people are picking and choosing channels in their particular packs for that reason many international standard channels are shutting down... Indian audience are very price sensitive so for the market like India its difficult to apply the so called latest technology as every upgraded tech come at a price which we don't prefer paying.....in our forum itself many people just subscribe to watch particular series and then when its done they remove it from it pack... so how will a broadcaster make money on that channel and in sometime channel will be shut down.

Top broadcasters like star, colors, zee hd and many hd channels overall India still struggling with less advertising revenue compared to sd channels revenue,,in this case how broadcasters bring 4k channels 😂 still many north people watching dd freedish service without monthly paying,,

India is one of the only large countries left in the world to maintain SD and HD channels as fully separate. In most countries around us, APAC, MENA, US, Canada, Europe (most countries), Australia, you have only a single feed of a channel and that is HD. But in India, we can never even imagine broadcasters eliminating the difference between SD and HD!

Because still many people I think don't have hd tv in their house

Still many people thinking sd channels enough because of High rate HD channels

Cable operators not giving hd channel under 250,260 price ranges

At least for sports, there will be taker for 4k channels. In future we may see it. Regional contents and sports will rule. Music channels have already been. Closed and movie channels will also not survive in the long run.

Ambani like royal family only spent 99+ tax to see 1 perticular 4k channel 😜
