BARC: No change in Hindi GEC hierarchy

MUMBAI: The pecking order of the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) remained unchanged in the second week of BARC ratings. Star Plus stayed at the top, Colors at No. 2 and Life OK at No. 3. For the week ended 1 May, Zee TV was the biggest gainer but trailed behind Life OK, according to BARC data sourced from subscribers.

The channel added 40 GRPs (gross rating points), followed by Star Plus (gained 28 GRPs) and Life OK (11 GRPs).

The data is for cable and satellite households in the Hindi-speaking markets (HSM), including the North East, for population of over one lakh.

Here is how the GECs have performed:

Star Plus remained on top with 518 GRPs, up from 490 GRPs in the previous week.

Colors maintained its 2nd position, despite dropping from 438 GRPs to 413 GRPs.

Life OK clocked 374 GRPs, up from 363 GRPs.

Zee TV ended the week with 348 GRPs, compared to 308 GRPs in the previous week.

SAB with 235 GRPs was at No. 5, down from 259 GRPs.

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) was at No 6 with 221 GRPs, down from 234 GRPs.

&TV was at No. 7 with 99 GRPs, down from 107 GRPs in the last week.

Sony Pal was No. 8 with 36 GRPs, down from 40 GRPs. Zindagi was at No. 9 with 13 GRPs, down from 14 GRPs.

Among the free-to-air channels, Zee Anmol led with 53 GRPs (last week 59 GRPs), followed by Star Utsav with 41 GRPs (last week 47 GRPs) and Rishtey with 40 GRPs (from 37 GRPs
