Makes sense. Half the Assam specially in Barak Valley have Bengali speaking population. Even my relatives who cam barely speak any Bengali watches Hoichoi's originals.
They are trying to get some trp by telecasting some bengali movies, as most of bengali channels getting trp from assam/ne (as per BARC Rating). Only Rang TV is most watched assamese non news channel. Even Jonack Channel's picture quality is very bad if we compare with Rang. Rengoni's picture quality is also not good.

And yet Tata Play refuses to add Jonack or acknowledge Assamese as a language. There are only three Assamese GECs of which Jonack was briefly on Tata Play (Sky) but removed. So many news channels and only two GECs. It shows how much TP cares about Assamese whereas Airtel keeps adding new Assamese channels.

Rang was the only GEC like Sun back when it started. They have retained their legacy audience. Meanwhile there are many Bengali speaking living in Northeast specially in parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura. Hence, Bengali channels gets good ratings.

Tata Play is an insensitive racist brand. They not only doesn't recognise Assamese as a language by not giving them a seperate category like every other language present in their platform. They are one of the rare brands in the world who still carries Russian propaganda media RT on their satellite and On Demand platform Watch Tata Sky. Meanwhile their parent company doesn't do trade with Russia amidst war. Pity on Google Play Store for letting RT have a platform through Tata Play app.
