Here's a bit of inofmration for those who are new to Bigg Boss.
Endemol awards one season for any new language that wants to adapt the Big Brother format. Consecutive seasons will be awarded if the debut season sees an estimated success.
Sony procured first season for Hindi Bigg Boss which was a fresh format to be accepted in India. Success estimation was small too, which Sony could meet, helping them to get the second season. Viacom realized the potential and acquired the next seasons, which would be a deal of five-seasons. All the next seasons were aired on Colors. They renewed this again after 7th season was completed, also got an opportunity to expand the franchise and go regional on it.
Also note that the hosts did matter in the show's success. Salman Khan is hosting the show since season 4 while it was hosted by Arshad Warsi, Amithab Bacchan, Shilpa Shetty, Sanjay Dutt (co-host in season 5), Farah Khan (hosted spin-off show) in the past. The success that was seen during Salman Khan's tenure was not seen by any other hosts for Hindi.
They got debut seasons sanctioned from Endemol for Kannada and Bangla. While Kannada was a huge hit on ETV Kannada (later rebranded to Colors Kannada), Bengali version on ETV Bangla (now Colors Bangla) failed to meet the expectations. Star cashed in their opportunity to telecast the second season in Kannada immediately, retaining Sudeep as the host before Viacom could procure it. Thus the second season was telecast on Star Suvarna (then under Asianet as Suvarna TV). The success of Kannada version multiplied and Viacom re-claimed the rights from Endemol, this time as a five-season deal. Colors Kannada has been airing the next seasons and hopes to keep the franchise with itself as Bigg Boss is now synonymous with Colors. The fame this show has brought in placed the Colors Kannada brand to highest level which now Viacom wants to encash with Colors Super as well and they are now airing the fifth season on the new GEC. The success for Kannada version has increases season to season and one of the main reason would be retention of Sudeep as the host for every season. Colors signed Sudeep with a five-season deal from season 3 onwards.
Bengali was not picked up for the second season as it could not bring the estimated success. Bengali saw its second experimental season after a gap of three years on Colors Bangla, with a different host. Mithun Chakraborthy was replaced by Jeet to gain success, which still is not as expected. The third Bengali season is still doubtful.
Star had lost Kannada show rights and also could not get it again sooner than 2020. They knew the potential this show had and their team thought of expanding it further. They got Endemol to sanction debut seasons in Tamil and Telugu and the shows followed up this year, airing on Star Vijay and Star Maa respectively. Both these were one-season deals also with hosts signing one-season deals. The success these seasons had are yet to be calculated and tallied with the estimated success for any network to procure rights for next seasons. If the shows have reached their 'estimated' success, the hosts might be retained. Hosts would be changed if the shows have failed to meet the expectations.
I suggest not to believe these 'migh bes' 'may bes' from hyping news sources as all these will be based on guess work and no information would be correct. Almost every information existing on the internet now on next seasons in Telugu and Tamil would be false. There would be no season two until next year; same time.
