Buddy so u think channels always prefer Tata Play as 1st choice for addition of their channels and if not successful they try to come onboard Airtel Digital TV Platform. ...sorry but this assessment / perception is flawed and incorrect.
Both these DTH operators are extremely important for any broadcaster so as to make their channels available to larger audience base, only incase of certains scenarios wherein either of these operators are weak in certain regions or audience segment which a channel is trying to cater to or if broadcaster has limited funds for paying carriage fee then there can be a decision taken by concerned broadcaster to launch only on a particular DTH Platform otherwise for 95% channels both Airtel Digital TV and Tata Play are of key importance
Tata Play has a clear advantage as far as premium/niche audience is concerned not bcoz that they would be having more reach among elite households as Airtel too has emerged as a strong player in this segment but in Big Hotels, MNC/Government Offices, Expat Homes, Popular Restaurants/Bars etc. still mostly Tata Play connections can be seen most prominently thus they have an advantage over Airtel in reaching out to affluent audience base in this regard......u urselves would have seen the same while staying in hotels or visiting restaurants / bars while on social media we have seen Tata Play connection in various pictures of office or home posted by Government Officials/Departments, MNC's , Foreign Expats.....having said that Airtel too is gaining momentum in this segment
