CNN-IBN and IBN7 to launch special series ‘Open Mike’
MUMBAI: TV18’s news channels CNN-IBN (English) and IBN7 (Hindi) are launching a new series called ‘Open Mike’ that seeks to give people a platform to voice their opinions on the upcoming general election.
The new property will go on air from 10 March. The series will give the masses an opportunity to voice their concerns, grievances, opinions and expectations from the upcoming general election.
IBN Network editor-in-chief Rajdeep Sardesai said, “CNN-IBN and IBN7 have always followed a legacy of inclusive journalism. Taking this legacy forward at a very significant time in India, we have come up with the initiative ‘Open Mike’ to enable our common citizens to fully exercise their right to express their views and expectations from the government and help shape the future of our country.”
Every day a question revolving around key political issues, opinions, policies and reactions to proposals will be put forward on-air and on the network’s online and social media properties.
CNN-IBN and IBN7 will travel across different cities to pre-selected locations to capture the views and opinions of people on the said question for an on-air play-out. Viewers will also be enabled to submit their videos and responses on the channel’s various web and social media interfaces.
The property will get extensive play on the channels with special day-long shows and segments through the entire election period. The initiative is aimed at empowering common people, thereby enabling them to actively participate in the discourse on elections.
