Comparision of Audio from diffrent sources

Objective of this post is to show comparison between audio from different sources .



Tools used

Spek 0.8.2  - For viewing Spectrogram of audio file
TSDemuxer - To demux audio files from transponder stream


I maybe wrong at somewhere as I am not a expert of this . but still I will share all that I know


1. Songs in M4a format from iTunes

Here you can see that there no quality difference in M4a & Mp3 as both of them are lossy formats & both have be encode using VBR


2. Songs in MP3 format

3. Songs ripped from original CD into FLAC 16 bit ( lossless format )

4. Audio Extract from SD channels

Some channels have better quality audio than other here's an example

MTV Beats

PTC Chakde

above you can see the quality difference


5. Audio Extract from HD channel with only ( stereo )

Not only SD channels but Even HD channels have much diffrence

6. Audio Extract from same channel ( stereo & 5.1 )
   
You easily can see the difference between the two audio streams which are from same video

5.1 have nearly doubled bit-rate 192 in stereo & 384 in 5.1 , also 5.1 stream have much higher dB levels , which is the reason for 5.1 stream being much louder
