Prasar Bharati recently got approval from government to increase DD Free Dish slots upto 250 under BIND Scheme. Now Prasar Bharati released tenders to expension of DTH Earth Station, Delhi. This will go around 4 to 6 month. After that the Newly got TPs will be under the hammer from Next annual e-auction, According to sources. Currently not have information about how these TPs will be Devided between MPEG-2 and MPEG-4.

According to sources, Prasar Bharati is thinking to decrease base price and increase regional channels of Different languages on DD Free Dish Platform.

How it's Possible:
As we are seeing that the new Transponders are testing only in MPEG-4 format. Therefore it is not possible to reduce the base price by increasing the slot in MPEG-4. Most channels participate in the MPEG-2 platform only. And the base value of MPEG-4 is already lower. So I think we should be ready to say bye-bye for DD regional channels from MPEG-2 platforms. And perhaps DD Free Dish (MPEG -2) will continue with national DD channels as DD National, DD News, DD Sports, DD Kisan, DD Bharati, DD India and Two Sansad TV Channels. These are a total of 8 channels and currently a total of 30 DD channels are available on MPEG -2. By this, 22 additional slots will be created for private channels in MPEG-2 and they can significantly reduce the base price.
