As part of the revamp exercise, Doordarshan National is bringing forth a bouquet of primetime shows scheduled to be telecast from this Independence Day.

In the first phase, five shows are being launched in the month of August.

As was reported earlier by TelevisionPost.com, DD National was to undertake yet another revamp exercise in August to refresh its look and primetime slot in order to attract more metro audiences.

While the core proposition will remain the same, on 15 August, the channel will undergo a revamp featuring new packaging and a new style with different hues. In addition, the channel will launch five shows in August, two in September, and four in October.

A similar launch strategy will be adopted in the months of December and January 2016. DD National ADG Deepa Chandra said, “Our aim behind the launch of fresh programming is to attain a renewed and appealing look.

We are not just focused on women-oriented programmes, but are also bringing forth shows of different genres in three phases to attract the masses.”

The new line-up begins with a period drama that tells how a newspaper called ‘Ranbheri’ played a significant role in the freedom struggle during the 1940s.

The one-hour show, scheduled to premiere on 15 August at 8 pm, will air on Saturday and Sunday.

From 16 August onwards, DD National will air a chat show titled ‘Koshish Se Qamyabi Tak’ on Sundays at 10:30 am. Anchored by Kiran Juneja, the show will take viewers on a journey through the lives of cine stars, from their days of struggle to success.

The stories would feature faces from the Bollywood industry like Madhur Bhandarkar, Parineeti Chopra, Ayushman Khurana and more.

This will be followed by ‘Dil Ko Aaj Fir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai’ from 17 August at 9 pm, airing from Monday to Friday.

It is a sentimental love story of a small-town girl from Patiala and a city-bred boy, who come together through a music reality show. ‘Beti Ka Farz’ is the story of an ideal daughter-in-law who she decides to fulfil her duty and responsibility as a daughter of her ailing and needy parents.

The show will go on air from 24 August, from Monday to Thursday, at 10 pm.

In the fifth show, Annu Kappor will uncover the life stories of people over forty by tracing their angst, frustrations, emotions, ambitions, dreams, and struggles.

Called ‘40 Plus’, the daily show will launch on 31 August airing at 8 pm from Monday to Friday.
