DD Sports will telecast the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade or World University Games for the very first time, live from Gwangju, Korea.
The 12-day sporting extravaganza is kicking off tomorrow at 4:00 pm with a colourful opening ceremony.
2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade is a multi-sport event with the participation of students from international universities, and is second only to the Olympics in terms of scale. DD Sports has worked out a marathon telecast plan of these games for Indian sports lovers.
This will include more than 180 hours of coverage starting from 3 July till 14 July.
The telecast will include live action from ground zero, commentary from the scene of action and analysis and discussion on the game by experts.
The Gwangju Summer Universiade will see the participation of more than 25 thousand athletes (including 13–14 from India) from 170 leading universities from across the world.
Interestingly, 48 per cent of all Olympic medallists are also Universiade medallists.
