MUMBAI: Doordarshan will conduct e-auction on
28 October for filling up the available slots on its
free direct-to-home (DTH) service DD Free Dish.
The reserve price for the e-auction has been set
at Rs 3.70 crore (Rs 37 million), while the
participation amount (EMD) is Rs 1.50 crore (Rs
15 million), which has to be deposited in advance
by 27 October by 5 pm along with a processing
fee of Rs 10,000.
The e-auction will be conducted by Synise
Technologies, Pune, on behalf of Prasar Bharati.
The applicants will have to deposit a Demand
Draft of Rs 5,500 registration amount
(mandatory) in favour of Synise Technologies
payable in Pune at the time of submission of the
application.
The applicants must provide their email address,
contact numbers and uplink/downlink permission
documents received from the ministries
concerned along with the applications.
The demand drafts of unsuccessful bidders will
be returned immediately or within a week after
the completion of the e-auction process.
The successful channels will be placed on Free
Dish platform with effect from 1 November.
Successful channels are required to deposit Rs
1.10 crore (Rs 11 million) of reserve price after
one month from the placement of the channel.
The balance amount of reserve price of Rs 1.10
crore (Rs 11 million) will have to be deposited
after two months from the placement of the
channel along with service tax on the total bid
amount. The balance amount will have to be
submitted on or before 1 May.
As on 19 August, Free Dish was carrying 59
channels out of which 36 are private channels
and 13 Doordarshan channels.
Earlier, Doordarshan had mopped up Rs 22.8
crore (Rs 228 million) for six slots which were
taken by Star Utsav, Zee Anmol, Rishtey
(Viacom18), B4U Music, News Nation and Big
Magic. The channels had shelled out anything Rs
3.8 crore (Rs 38 million) to Rs 5 crore (Rs 50
million) for a slot on the FTA platform.
