MUMBAI: After a ruling of the Delhi High Court that allowed the screening of the Govinda-starrer Naughty@40, the film will be released on 15 April.
The film had been held up due to a monetary dispute between the producers Anuj Sharma and Sandeep Kapoor. The film's release was delayed after Kapoor fell out with Sharma and approached the Court in 2009 seeking recovery of a loan of Rs.13.2 million that he had allegedly paid as advance to Sharma.
The Court allowed Sharma to go ahead with the film's release after his lawyer deposited a demand draft of Rs 10 million with the Court registry. However, the Court declined Kapoor's plea to release the amount to him.
Justice Jain, who was deliberating on the case, said: “The question of release of the money to the petitioner (Kapoor) would be decided after the entire amount (Rs.13.2 million) is deposited with the Court.” Sharma has been asked to pay the remaining amount by 6 April.
Directed by Jagmohan Dalmiya, the film is about a 40-year-old man who arrives from London to India to find a suitable match for himself.
