MUMBAI: Discovery Turbo will launch its new series, Cafe Racer, on 14 July at 10 pm.
The 13-part series will explore the history, development and worldwide culture surrounding the café racer, a motorcycle directly responsible for today's superbikes.
Becoming more prevalent on the racing scene, a café racer is both a type of motorcycle, as well as a type of motorcyclist, who appreciates speed and good handling over comfort.
In the show, former Superbike and Supersport champions, Ben and Eric Bostrom, challenge a new motorcycle builder in every episode.
The challenger must design, engineer and create their very own dream on wheels from an older frame in the retro-style of classic café racers.
Once completed, the legendary Bostroms give the custom bike a complete shakedown and test to see if it lives up to their impeccable standards.
The show visits visionary motorcycle builders in the US and England as they search for the perfect combination of style and speed.
Chronicling some of today's top motorcycle builders through the search and build process, the show rides with Eric and Ben Bostrom in these unique machines. The show takes viewers on a full-throttle ride to Mods and Rockers rallies and to London's legendary Ace Café.
Celebrity café racers, including musician Billy Joel and actor Jason Lee, share their passion for fast stripped-down motorcycles, while viewers can catch behind-the-scenes footage and learn how-to customise tips through the series.
