Stakeholders expressed discontent with the operation of free-to-air (FTA) channels on Prasar Bharti's DD Free Dish platform during an open house discussion held by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Thursday.The discussion, which revolved around TRAI's August 2023 Consultation Paperer on ‘Review of Regulatory Framework for Broadcasting and Cable services’, saw concerns raised about a potential imbalance in the playing field.

dpo has issues in free dish for paid channels why they support private channels monthly bill amount they stop the higher price channels broadcast or remove channels in base pack.
dd free dish is gov policy they only focus meddle class users
My opinion is dth,cable operators stop high prices channels .after they reduced price all them subscribe channels or join dth . Now a day dth monthly price is high so user going to free dish .

But their some points are valid. New auction policy creating Artificial scarcity of slots and Prasar bharati earning very high money. Prasar bharati is for serve people and not to make high profit. They have earned more than 2000 crores from last year till now but what change has come in DD free dish, nothing. And they are causing huge losses to FTA broadcasters by their behavior. Prasar bharati should add around 200 slots and add channels for free or a minimal price. And they should allow only FTA channels that registered with TRAI and at least available on 1 Pay DTH platform. And slowly, in the next 2 years, DAS should be fully implemented. Due to this all the channels will also be moved to MPEG-4. Our Indian channels are running very easily in neighboring countries, DAS will stop this completely.
