Recently DD released a Tender to Buy Up-Link Vans for UHD and HD Uplink facility for DD Network.
Currently DD Broadcasting in SD and HD format but from this we can assume that in Future they are also thinking to start 4k transmission of Channels.
Uplinking means transmitting a Channel to satellite

DD National 4K & DD Sports 4K.... Super News of the Day.

This is good news for all of us because in foreign countries, movies, news and sports channels are available in 4K UHD, but in our country, only one channel is available in 4K and that is Star 4K. If Doordarshan brings this UHD channel, then it will be a challenge for all DTH and other private companies as well.

First need is to available good tv channels on DDFD with reasonable price rate. 4K is exceptional case Bcs from long times they are planning DD Kids, OTT & other entertaining things but not live on ground floor. As per the past experience 4K facility will be available when another will live in nano/super nano technology.

What a fool notification of DDFD which will never to implement on his committed timeline.

RIP 4K Facility.

Not sure if it’s actually necessary for Doordarshan to launch a 4K channel when there are so many other areas it can invest money in. Good to hear, though, that DD is trying to modernise itself in some way. This seems to be a follow-up of permanently launching DD Sports HD last year.

@Shark bhai, you’re becoming a Doordarshan/DDFD expert. :tup:

Finally! Doordarshan is investing some money to upgrade it's video quality game. I was fed up with even browsing past DD Pothigai back in 2015-'16! The colours always looked yellow and washed out. Only after they re-branded it to DD Tamil the channel became somewhat watchable. But knowing Doordarshan's track record I don't know if they'll finish this in time.
