Doordarshan owed Rs 80 crore from Government departments
In an address to the Parliament, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said that Doordarshan has not been paid outstanding dues to the tune of Rs 79.66 crore. Various central and state government departments, including public sector undertakings are the parties that have failed to pay these dues as on May 31, 2014.
He further said the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) owed Rs 6.94 crore to the channel and added that this includes the advertisements released in the last quarter of 2013-14. The minister said this while reporting to the Parliament that Doordarshan had reported ad revenues of Rs.1,295.86 crore for FY 2014 as against Rs.1,100.27 crore in the previous year. He further said that for the current year till May 31 the channel has generated revenue in the amount of Rs. 87.76 crore.
