MUMBAI: Dream Theatre, the brand management and licensing agency, has signed licensing and merchandising deals with Smiley CO, Mr Maker and Oggy and the Cockroaches.
The strategic tie ups will consolidate Dream Theatre’s position in entertainment and lifestyle licensing, wherein the company will represent the three brands in India and drive the strategy and licensing for them.
Jiggy George, founder and CEO of Dream Theatre, said, “We are delighted to be working and representing some of the best brands in the world. With already a fair traction in India, we can count on Smiley Company’s unique design sensibility to market a gamut of products in the market.”
Nicolas Loufrani, CEO of Smiley, added, “India is a great market for Smiley. We already have over half a million Indian fans on social media and this is our largest and most engaged online community in the world.”
With primetime programming on Discovery Kids, and millions of views on Youtube, Mr. Maker, the arts and craft show is among top favourites with Indian kids. Dream Theatre’s appointment as the Licensing representatives in India marks the show’s next milestone. Dream Theatre will represent all consumer products and live events for Mister Maker and products are expected to hit retail shelves this summer. Core categories at launch will be craft kits, back to school, stationary and publishing.
George added, “Arts and crafts strongly appeal to kids in India and we look forward to them enjoying the licensed offerings as much as the show.”
On the entertainment front, Oggy and the Cockroaches was an instant and huge success in India since its launch. While the show is telecast in over 160 countries reaching over 600 million homes and has over 3 billion video views and 3 million fans on Facebook, In India, it’s one of the most watched kids shows with the distinction of playing on both Cartoon Network and Nick.
Dream Theatre will be exclusively responsible for driving Oggy’s licensing programme across all consumer product categories and brand promotions.
