Epic—India’s first genre-specific, high-
definition Hindi entertainment channel—is finallyset for launch on 19 November 2014.
The channel has entrusted its distribution and
syndication mandate to IndiaCast, and is
currently finalising deals with DTH and digital
cable platforms.
Focused on urban India, Epic will launch with two
and a half hours of original programming. It will
be an encrypted channel upon launch, with about
six months of free viewing.
Featuring finite fiction content from the
mythological, folklore and historical genres shot
in HD, the channel will launch with an array of
weekly shows, most of which will be of one-hour
durattion ..
Last month, the channel had mandated Helios
Media to take care of its revenue monetisation
duties.
YRF TV’s former head Ravina Kohli has joined
the channel as head of content while BIG CBS’
former business head Aparna Pandey is its head
of business.
Headed by former Walt Disney India MD Mahesh
Samat, the channel has a group of investors
behind it including Anand Mahindra (in personal
capacity), Mukesh Ambani and Rohit Khattar.
