Ethiopian Airlines recently appointed airline and tourism management group, Aviareps, to manage its global corporate sales in Europe and Asia. Joseph Fernandes, General Manager – India, Aviareps said, ''This tie-up gives us the opportunity to promote Ethiopian Airlines as a corporate carrier in India."

With two Global Account Managers responsible for the development of the new segment in Europe and Asia, Aviareps will also organise regional activities to attract global companies to Aviareps and conclude air transport contracts on behalf of its client. Based in Germany and China, both Account Managers will be responsible for establishing contacts with affiliated groups, global companies and travel agencies to promote Ethiopian Airlines’ special company fares.

Speaking about their relationship with the travel trade, Fernandes said, ''We will contine to work with large corporate travel agents like Thomas Cook India and Carlson Wagonlit. We have no firm plans at the moment regarding possible partnerships with the travel trade, but we will look at these as and when the opportunity arises.''

Ethiopian Airlines flies daily from Addis Ababa to Mumbai and five times a week to Delhi and onwards to Beijing, and also runs 26 weekly services to China. Asia thus forms an important market for the airline and plays a major role in connecting Africa and China. From May 2011, Ethiopian Airlines introduced daily non-stop flights from Addis Ababa to Beijing. This new service provides direct access to Africa by linking Addis Ababa to various destinations in Africa such as Nairobi (Kenya), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Kigali (Rwanda), Khartoum (Sudan) and Djibouti (Somalia). With the launch of another new flight to Hangzhou in May 2011, Ethiopian Airlines increased its Chinese hubs to four: Beijing, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Hangzhou.
