The Information and Broadcasting Ministry wants to increase the present rates of permission/registration of uplinking and downlinking.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting C M Jatua told Parliament today that his Ministry is in the process of seeking approval of the Cabinet for certain amendments in the uplinking and downlinking guidelines.
The fee at present is according to the extant policy guidelines, and there has been no increase.
He said a total of 87 teleports have been permitted as on 18 August 2011.
The proposed amendments include certain enhancements on the present networth requirements for teleports, he said.
