it is usually done by women of the family or married women for her and her family well being , its believed worshipping to goddess Varalakshmi ( goddess Lakshmi ) on this day is equivalent to worshipping Ashta Lakshmi . lets pray all our problems are solved by goddess Varalakshmi and help to solve them quickly and keep all our family well. (also celebrated with family members )
this is celebrated in mainly in karnataka, Andhra pradesh , telangana , tamil nadu & kerala . other states dates may vary or festival name might be different
( its sad to see news media or tv channels ignoring some festivities and only focusing on one festival . they should focus on all popular festivities
