This channel has an interesting and uncertain future. Almost everything is pointing to the status quo being maintained, i.e., History TV18 will remain confined to the AETN18 joint venture and will NOT be brought under the new merged entity when Viacom18 is brought under Disney Star, if @SarFa bhai is correct.

However, personally I see more merit to History TV18 being brought under the Reliance/Disney merged entity and becoming a sister channel of National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild and Star Life. Then it will be able to leverage the strengths of Disney Star’s ownership, especially since A+E Networks itself is partly owned by Disney. At present, History TV18 is one of the only non-news channels owned by Network18 but not part of Viacom18, with another being Topper Channel that’s owned by Greycells18 Media.

Had great programming when launched in 2011 until about 2015 but then both programming and scheduling went downhill....infotainment channels can do well but they need to bring good mix of science, investigation, exploration, biography, food , travel related shows...having too much of adventure, food, lifestyle shows or shows like pawn stars, storage wars etc in schedule is not a good strategy...... Also HD feed needs tp have some differentiated content too

Already TV18 News and current affairs channels brought under Network18 so soon A+E TV18 might be merged in Star India Private Limited

We Kannadigas missing this channel. because it is not available in Kannada nudi.
