The Institute of Chartered Accountants of
India (ICAI) will use the DTH platform of the
Ministry of Human Resource Development to
launch its TV channel on August 15.
ICAI President K. Raghu said the proposed
move would benefit nearly 8.3 lakh students
pursuing the chartered accountancy course
besides commerce students. It would be a
free channel.
To revolutionise the education delivery
system, the ICAI has been using all possible
ICT modes by delivering audio/video lectures
through Gyan Darshan, launch of digital
library, ICAI online store and bringing out
study materials at intermediate level in
different module, he said.
On Friday, the Management Committee of the
Southern Region met to review Education and
Training so as to be in tune with the Global
Education Standards. It would come into force
from the 2016. In its pre-budget
memorandum, the Standing Committee on
Finance on the DTC urged the Centre to
exempt those drawing up to Rs.3 lakh
annually from IT; to bring those earning
between Rs.3 lakh and Rs.10 lakh under the
10 per cent slab, and to place those earning
Rs.10-20 lakh in the 20 per cent slab.
Respect for taxpayers
Mr. Raghu said taxpayers should be treated as
clients, and should be accorded priority in
services. .
The institute called for abolishing surcharge
imposed on individuals and corporates;
preparing single ITR form; creating online
grievance portal for speedy resolution of
queries of assesses; making mandatory filing
of IT returns for NRI owning a property or
asset in India.
