The cyber wing of Hyderabad Police has busted
an illegal TV transmission racket. This racket
was illegally tapping chanels in India and
abroad and being broadcast without
permission. The miscreants who were behind
this activity have caused an annual loss of
rupees 6000 crore to the film industry and
T.V. broadcasters.
In Secunderbad's Trimulgherry area, the racket
was busted after a raid was carried out to only
find out about the illegal business of TV cable
transmission. According to the police, Jaadu
T.V. management used to illegally trap several
Indian and foreign channels and broadcast
them and through live streaming they
broadcast to 115 Indian channels and several
foreign channels were transmitted in 15
countries. This gang has done a ware-
separation worth crores of rupees. As a result
of this standby, the payment would not reach
the channels. The police have so far arrested
four people involved in the case- M Reddy,
Police Commissioner, Hyderabad.
According to the police, Jaadu Management
have been illegally selling set top boxes in
America, Britain and Australia.
The customers would have to pay just $200 for
the set top boxes and no subscription charges
and could conveniently connect internet to
these STB's and watch a channel of their
choice.
According to the police, these people had
started a similar business in Hyderabad but
kept changing locations to avoid the police.
The police has booked the gang members
under various sections of the IPC, IT and Cable
TV Act. Police are on the lookout for the
mastermind, Sumit Ahuja who is believed to be
hiding abroad. A Red Corner Notice (RCN) has
already been issued to ensure his arrest.
This raid is not only a warning to those who
run an illegal TV transmission racket but an
alert to those viewers who watch TV procured
from this illegal connection

Satellite TV racket busted inHyderabad

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police busted a
satellite TV piracy racket and produced the
four-member gang before the media on
Sunday.
According to police commissioner M
Mahender Reddy, the modus operandi of the
gang was that they would subscribe to various
DTH satellite TV connections and by using
electronic equipment purchased from China,
they convert the satellite TV signal into
encrypted streaming content for broadcasting
on US-based company Jadoo TV web portal.
Based on a complaint lodged by Krishna
Kumar, manager-distribution of Maa
Television Network Limited, CCS officials
raided a flat at Manasarovar apartment in
Trimulgherry and picked up Mir Kashif Ali
Khan, 27, a software engineer, Jagadishwara
Chari, TV channels monitoring in-charge, N
Sai Kumar, a tele-caller and JB
Meghanandhan, a web designer, who used to
illegally provide live streaming videos of
several Indian satellite TV channels to Jadoo
TV. The gang, managed by Sumit Ahuja, has
been involved in satellite TV signal piracy
from Hyderabad for over six years, Mahender
Reddy said. Ahuja rented a flat at
Manasarovar apartment in the name of M/S
Pearl Technology one and half years ago and
started the business with a small team of
technical experts. Jadoo TV is a US-based
company run by Faisal Aftab and Sajid Sohail
from USA.
Jadoo TV owners supply set-top boxes to
customers including NRIs settled in various
countries of North America, Middle East,
Europe and Asia Pacific region to decrypt the
115 Indian TV channels for 300 US dollars a
piece. They have even received good response
from NRIs across the globe. Most of the
channels broadcasted by the accused are paid
channels like MAA TV and Zee TV and these
channels have incurred huge losses as neither
Ahuja nor the owners of Jadoo TV paid any
subscription fee, Mahender Reddy said.
While police managed to nab the four who
worked at Pearl Technology, the main
accused Ahuja and his associates Aftab and
Sohail are absconding. CCS police have
identified the bank accounts of Ahuja and
initiated the process to freeze them. Police
are also trying to issue red corner notices
against the Jadoo TV owners from the CBI
through the CID. Satellite TV racket busted in Hyderabad - TOI Mobile | The Times of India Mobile Site
