MUMBAI: After a brief period of blackout, the channels distributed by IndiaCast are back on DEN Networks in Uttar Pradesh.

The content aggregator and the MSO have reached an agreement, a formal signing of which will take place in the next few days. IndiaCast has switched on the signals of its channels to DEN.

The channels include Colors, CNBC-TV18, IBN 7, MTV and the Disney bouquet. Confirming the development, IndiaCast Media Distribution EVP Amit Arora said, “Our channels are back on DEN Networks’ JV partners in UP as we have reached an agreement with them after amicably resolving our commercial dispute.” DEN Ambey Cable Networks’ JV partner Sanjeev Dixit also confirmed the development. “We have reached an agreement with IndiaCast UTV. We are still working on the nitty-gritty of the deal.”

DEN is a big player in UP where it operates mainly through JVs. IndiaCast had last month switched off its channels to DEN in UP as negotiations failed.

The channels were switched off across UP except cities like Noida and Ghaziabad.

UP was the only market where IndiaCast did not have an agreement with DEN.

The matter had reached the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), with IndiaCast alleging that DEN had switched off its channels without notice.

The MSO said that it had put IndiaCast channels on reference interconnect offer (RIO) in digital addressable system (DAS) areas and moved them to UHF band in analogue areas.

IndiaCast had demanded that the Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Ltd (BECIL) conduct an audit of DEN’s system to ascertain whether the channels were actually being offered on RIO.
