Mumbai: Isro is set to cross another major milestone on February 25 by launching seven foreign satellites simultaneously at Sriharikota.
The lift-off is slated for around 6 pm and the rocket will be the core version of the highly-proven four-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. Speaking to TOI, Isro officials said that the main satellite will be the 410 kg Saral consisting of two payloads — ARgos and ALtika. It is a joint Indo-French mission and its primary role will be to carry out oceangraphic studies.
In addition, there will be two satellites from Canada, two from Austria and one each from Denmark and the UK.
It may be recalled that Isro had set a world record in April 2008 by launching 10 satellites together in perfect precision.
“As in 2008, we hope to deploy the satellites in their respective orbits in quick succession,’’ said an official.
