Malayalam movie Dhrishyam, which has been buoying on a sea of appreciation since its release in December, is now being eyed by the big stars of Kollywood.
The family drama thriller, which has Mohanlal playing a modest family man as a father of two, is said to have struck a chord with the audience for his simple, yet intense role. Thus, it is no surprise that K’wood biggies Vikram and Kamal Hassan have expressed their interest in the Tamil remake of it.
While Vikram had already expressed his interest in playing the role of the wise family man, the recent Padma Bhushan awardee too seems to be liking the idea of donning a simplistic role.
Recent reports, however, suggest that Kamal will most likely be taking it up in both Tamil and Hindi, although nothing has been finalised yet. Apart from Tamil, there are already talks about remaking it in Telugu. The rights for the Tamil and Telugu remakes are reowned by producer Suresh Balaji.
The role of Mohanlal in the movie is that of a fourth standard dropout, who goes on to become a businessman running cable TV service in a rural area.
The role is said to be an easy one for both actors. And now it’s all about who’s going to win the battle of Dhrishyam’s remake. While Meena plays the female lead in the Malayalam movie, Ansiba and Esther play the two daughters.
The film was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas and music is by Anil Johnson and Vinu Thomas.
The cinematography was done by Sujith Vassudev.
Who would get the role is for one to wait and watch. Meanwhile, Kamal is gearing up for his Vishwaroopam 2 release and Vikram for his forthcoming film Ai.
