Last month the Ernakulam Family Court posted the hearing of Kavya Madhavan’s divorce petition to May 25, 2011.
According to reports, Kavya and Nishal reached the court separately at 3.30 P.M on Wednesday (25/5/11) and appeared before the court for the hearing at 4 pm and Family court judge Jospeh Thekekuruvinal considered the case. The court then sent them for counselling. But both of them told the counsellor that, there is no change in their decision as they do not have any liabilities towards each other. And the Court reserved the decision on the mutual divorce petition to Saturday (28/5/11).
Nishal came out of the councilor’s room first, followed by Kavya after some time. When media surrounded him he said `No family should face such an experience’ and left the scene. Kavya does not want to comment on this. She added that, she would be more active in films by next month. She was along with her father Madhavan, mother Shyamala and advocate A V Thomas.
Kavya and Nishal got married on February 5, 2009. After one year there were news that they were going to file for divorce. Kavya filed a petition in the family court alleging that her husband Nishal, who is working in Kuwait, and his family mentally and physically tortured her. Later it was withdrawn and both gave a joint petition for divorce.
