LG has given the world a glimpse into the wide range of TVs that it plans to launch in India soon. The company is set to launch its new Ultra HD TV portfolio, along with some other smart televisions based on its WebOS platform. The HDTV models will be available starting at Rs 1.5 lakhs and will go all the way up to 15 lakhs. The WebOS Cinema 3D TVs will be available for a slightly lower starting price at Rs 82,900 and will go up to Rs 15 lakhs.
At the India Gadget Expo 2014 held in Hyderabad, the company launched the world’s first Smart TV with Full HD Cinema 3D and Smart LED Screen that is based on the WebOS platform. Needless to say, WebOS is the Linux kernel-based intuitive OS platform that the company had acquired from HP in 2013.
The new Ultra HD TVs come with forward-facing 5.2 multi-channel sound systems that have been developed in partnership with Harman/Kardon. The built-in speakers feature LG’s Ultra Surround Sound concept, which the company says will offer an immersive sound experience. It also gets Ultra HD Engine Pro for ensuring optimal processing power that is needed to attain 4K video resolution (3840 x 2160).
LG has also integrated the TVs with a proprietary chip that works with the engine to eliminate unwanted visual artifacts. The Ultra HD feature is capable of upscaling HD or Full HD videos to almost 4K quality, claims the company. So, that means you can watch 4K content on TV too. These models are available in screen sizes of 49, 55, 65, 79 and 84 inches.
On the other hand, the WebOS TVs will be up for grabs in 42, 47, 55 and 65 inch screen sizes. These Smart TVs will come with an intuitive Launcher menu, a user interface that will neatly arrange the utilities for easy access to the features and history. It will also offer access to the LG App Store for TV shows, movies and games, open a web browser and more. LG claims to have sold more than one million Web OS TVs since March 2014, and intents to increase the sales further this year.
