So far I was using Bharat Electronics 5518 receiver for DD Free Dish. Of late it seems to have developed issues and keeps turning off suddenly in 10 minutes (not always but frequently). At the same time, I was always looking for means to play videos via pen drive. Buying a DVD player with USB support was an option since I still use CRT TV. But DVD player being obsolete I am trying to avoid buying one. 
After some thought process and web search, I came across Solid DTH set top boxes and also discovered that some models offer USB media play support. I was suggested HDS2-6042 model when I emailed Solid support.
My questions are:
1. Should I go with the model suggested by Solid support?
2. Does anyone use Solid DTH receivers and are they durable?
3. Does it function well w.r.t. playing videos / showing photos from a pen drive?
4. Other than Solid which brands set-top boxes are available for DD Free Dish?
